Basic professional training There are 8 schools of physiotherapy in Denmark, in Holstebro, Århus, Esbjerg, Ålborg, Skodsborg, Odense, Næstved, and Copenhagen. Information on admission criteria can be obtained from the schools. The education leads to a B.Sc. Professionsbachelor equivalent to 210 ECTS.

The professional education/training is of 3½ years duration and is theoretically and practically based and includes a clinical training programme. In addition to physiotherapy subjects the students study scientific subjects like anatomy and physiology, social science, and health science as well as pedagogy and psychology.
After the final examination the
Danish National Board of Health grants license to the physiotherapists.

Continued professional development and postgraduate education Danske Fysioterapeuter has a comprehensive and dynamic educational programme, which is continually being developed in close co-operation with educators, researchers and work places.
Danske Fysioterapeuter offers courses at several levels. Some courses cater for physiotherapists from all over the country, while some are offered on a regional or local basis. More and more physiotherapists supplement their basic professional training with one year diploma course (60 ECTS) or degree courses (MSc. 60 ECTS, Cand. 90 ECTS) at university level in Denmark or abroad. Specialist in physiotherapy
Qualifications are: Clinical work, CPD, documented to approximately 60 ECTS. Theoretical and scientific education and experience, documented to approximately 60 ECTS. The specialist areas for physiotherapists are at the moment.: Neurophysiotherapy, Musculosceletal physiotherapy, Paediatric physiotherapy, Geronto/Geriatric physiotherapy, Psychosomatic and psychiatric physiotherapy, Prevention and health promotion, Rehabilitation. The Danske Fysioterapeuter/Council of Specialism is the recognising body.
