About the education in physiotherapy
The professional education/training is of 3½ years duration and is theoretically and practically based and includes a clinical training programme. In addition to physiotherapy subjects the students study scientific subjects like anatomy and physiology, social science, and health science as well as pedagogy and psychology.
The education leads to a B.Sc. Professionsbachelor equivalent to 210 ECTS.
After the final examination the Danish Patient and Safety Authority grants license to the physiotherapists.

Continued professional development and postgraduate education
The Association of Danish Physiotherapists has a comprehensive and dynamic educational programme, which is continually being developed in close co-operation with educators, researchers and work places. Danske Fysioterapeuter offers courses at several levels. Some courses cater for physiotherapists from all over the country, while some are offered on a regional or local basis.
More and more physiotherapists supplement their basic professional training with one year diploma course (60 ECTS) or a degree courses (MSc. 60 ECTS, Cand. 120 ECTS) at university level in Denmark or abroad.
There are presently two master of science in physiotherapy available in Denmark:
Master of Science in Physiotherapy at University of Southern Denmark
Master of Science (MSc) in Health (Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy) at Aalborg University
Specialist in physiotherapy
Qualifications are: Clinical work, CPD, documented to approximately 60 ECTS. Theoretical and scientific education and experience, documented to approximately 60 ECTS.

- Geronto/Geriatric physiotherapy
- Psychosomatic and psychiatric physiotherapy
- Prevention and health promotion

- Physiotherapy for hearts and lungs
- Sports physiotherapy
- Urology
